Success in outbound = planning 7 key information to formulate a sales strategy: 1- The Revenue target 2- Annual Contract Value 3- The average number of contacts/account 4- The average activities/account 5- Average show rate 6- Average qualified rate 7- Average close rate Those 7 answers tell us the number of accounts/people we need to reach the targeted revenue - - Step 2: Square their ICP Knowing our client’s Ideal Customer Profile (I.C.P.) / Buyer Persona is the top 2 info of our onboarding 6 criteria to define an ICP/Persona: 1- Demographic info 2- Challenges 3- Goals 4- Buying behaviour 5- Communication preferences 6- Value prop alignment - - Step 3: Focus on Sales-intents: Our client solution replaces 1 specific tech position in SMEs 1 way to know that a SME could potentially need that solution is by tracking what SMEs are hiring for this position. By scrapping job boards, analyzing and summarising the job descriptions of the profiles we know exactly the needs of those SMEs We can then reach out to the right person with the right message at the right time - - Step 4: Calibrate their ICP/Persona 1- Gauge the number of accounts/contacts to target 2- Estimate the available data per account/contacts As step 1 tells us how many accounts/people we need to reach the targeted revenue, We evaluate if the number of accounts/people found versus the ones needed are matching. - - Step 5: Write intent-driven cold email sequences 7 steps-blueprint to send terrific cold emails in 2024: 1. 1-3 word subject line 2. 5th grade language 3. 1st line: an observation 4. What’s in it for the prospect 5. 50-75 words 6. Generates emotions 7. Soft Call-to-Action Send the cold emails you would like to receive. During the years I heard a lot of e-commerce guys say "We don't need SEO, we use Google Ads. It's an engine we can control. It's profitable so why bother." Today chinese ecommerce dragon Temu has DESTROYED Google Ads for many categories of products. I have heard as much as 40% increase in Google Ads click prices because of the chinese dragon. Which of course means many companies can't make a profit and stop advertising. Some even go bankrupt. SEO is not without competition or unfair changes, but never have we experienced anything as brutal as what just happened to Google Ads.

YouTube Video Action Campaigns getting merged with Demand Gen in 2025 feels too soon. We usually focus on CPV and CPM for YouTube ads but I image this is just the start of what Google plans to do with YouTube Ads. The biggest lever Google has is making everyone run YouTube ads. I’ve recently audited 5 MY brands spending RM200k+/month online. Here are most common issues I saw (and how to fix them). 1. Over-reliance on GA4 for attribution →Means bottom-funnel activity gets too much attention →Brand don’t test channels that can’t be tracked What to do instead: →Keep GA4 →Add in attribution that captures beyond last click (e.g. post-purchase surveys, hold-outs, MMM) 2. No way of tracking changes →Whether it’s media or creative, they’re not using a test tracker →So they flip flop between changes and don’t know what’s working →Or make too many changes so they can’t isolate results What to do instead: →Set-up a change tracker in excel/sheets →It’s manual work →but tracking all your changes, tests, and learnings like this will pay off big time 3. Not testing properly →They’re not running tests →Letting platforms ‘auto-optimise’ doesn’t guarantee the best creatives win →Or they’re making decisions on insufficient data →Or make decisions on leading metrics (which often have ZERO correlation to sales) What to do instead: →Figure out your average CPA →Decide how many conversions you need to have trustworthy results →Set-up a strict A/B test with sufficient budget for each audience/creative to achieve enough conversions for reliable results →For brands with a high CPA, you may need to limit the number of tests you’re running. But it will be worth it in having reliable results. 4. Using the same ad account structure from 2022 (Which has been getting worse YoY) →It’s especially hard to change account structures when you’re an established brand →You need cashflow and there’s a lot to lose if things go wrong →And because performance has been deteriorating slowly, it isn’t always obvious that your structure is the problem What to do instead: →Test all the new recommendations from the ad platforms →Some don’t work (especially when they’re new) →But some will work great →A lot of brands are still scared to use Advantage+, but it’s working on all our high conversion accounts 5. Creatives aren’t well branded/memorable →In the short term, you don’t notice this having a negative impact →But over years, we see clients with strong branding in their ads growing, while the rest stagnate →If creatives aren’t well branded, you’re growing the category and helping get your competitors more sales in the long run →Well branded ads help you get remembered before customers go to the search engines, so you beat the competition What to do instead: →Get your brand in early (especially on skippable/scrollable ads) →Keep your branding throughout (more time on screen = more change to enter the memory) →Include positive emotion in your ads (to enter the memory) →Don’t just include your logo. Include all your distinctive assets (e.g. product, package etc.) New levels = new devils. When you’re big, there’s less ‘quick wins’. But there’s still plenty of growth available if you think long-term. #paidads #creativeandmedia

This is SCARY! 😱 Almost got phished by a fake Google Ads site on... Google itself! Yes, you read that right. Today, I tried to access my Google Ads account and, like many of us, I just typed "Google Ads" into the search bar instead of typing the full URL (who remembers it anyway?). Long story short, I was less than a second away from handing over my Google credentials to a phishing site. And this wasn't just any phishing attempt—it was a masterpiece of phishing! ⚠️ This was a Google Ads phishing website, promoting itself through Google Ads on Google pages! With the blessing (and verification) of Google itself! What happened: ✔ I searched for "Google Ads." ✔ A convincing ad link appeared at the top of the search results. ✔ I clicked through, thinking it was legit. ✔ But something felt off, so I went back and double-checked the icon — strange... no icon on this one? ✔ There was a "Google verified" logo, so I checked it. ✔ Indeed Google sweared "This site is verified". I had to read three time to spot it... the verification was for a different company name! ✔ Out of curiosity, I clicked again to explore—the fake site was PERFECT. ✔ Only a small detail (the URL) gave it away, but honestly, anyone could fall for this! Cherry on the cake? When I went back on the website, i couldn't access it directly. They used a Cloudflare WAF (Web Application Firewall) to identify "direct" accesses (= those of investigators and people not coming through fake Ad) and block them. This is PRO ! Phishing happens every day, but here’s the even scarier part: Google itself cannot protect its own Google Ads service and sells advertising to a fake company promoting... their fake Google Ads website! Stay sharp, folks! ✔ Always verify before you click. ✔ Pay attention to small details. ✔ Use 2FA (Two Factor Authentication) ✔ Bookmark important sites to avoid relying on search results. #CyberSecurity #PhishingScam #StaySafe #GoogleAds #InternetSecurity #Phishing

Crazy updates during Google Cloud Next 24 🔥 Among many other updates two points catched my eye as a marketer. 1. Gemini comes to BigQuery 2. Gemini comes to LookerStudio Now working with Gemini in a "free" field, i wasn't too convinced, but i think the product integration will do much better. Gemini can help you do get your BigQuery setup and settings running much better, which is something non-techies struggle often. But the best part for me is conversational analytics with Looker. The DOJ might force Google to share comprehensive search query data. Good news, right?? Actually, no, 𝗶𝘁'𝘀 𝗮 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗽! Here's why: 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 A few years ago, Google began redacting low-volume search terms due to privacy concerns. The redacted data can sometimes amount to large percentages of an advertiser's total costs. This change was deeply unpopular because it robbed advertisers of transparency into spend, as well as the ability to identify and exclude low-performing traffic. In parallel, Google's keyword matching behaviors became looser – and these forces combined to create high levels of distrust from advertisers. This topic came to the DOJ's attention when they opened their antitrust investigation of Google's search dominance, and now that Google has been designated as a monopolist, search queries are on the list of areas needing remedy. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 "𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗱𝘆" The DOJ's proposed remedy stipulates: "For each Search Text Ad served or clicked, Google must make available to advertisers at the individual ad level for the preceding 18-month period, data showing the query [and other relevant data] necessary for the advertiser to evaluate its ad performance." DOJ continues that the data must be real-time, API-accessible, etc. Sounds like heaven right? Every query! At the ad level! Well, sometimes, the cure is worse than the disease. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗕𝗔𝗗 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘀 Google objected that they CANNOT do this because – reminder! – search terms are 𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘢. They are only safe to share in aggregate. Longtail queries can easily be de-anonymized, and that is not permissible. Listen, I wasn't born yesterday. I have no doubt that concealing search terms is revenue-positive for Google. But there is also a valid privacy claim. And yes, Google Ads is a walled garden which – yes – can be detrimental to advertisers. But walled gardens can also *benefit* advertisers, and this is not discussed often enough. The DOJ's response is that if Google can't share the data, then they can't collect it or use it either. If your head isn't exploding yet – now would be the polite moment. Killing user-level search query collection and usage would massively degrade the Google Ads platform. Yes we'd like to see more data but the DOJ isn't talking about a sweet spot, they’re talking all or nothing at *the ad level* – that’s a radically finer degree of segmentation which in all likelihood further exposes Google’s privacy flank. The DOJ's stance is absolutist, overreaching, and untenable. This proposal is NOT in the interest of advertisers. What we need here is a balanced proposal. Now is the time for advertisers to get wise and speak up – if it is not already too late! So please. Re-cork that champagne. This is far from the only DOJ proposal that is harmful to businesses all over the world.
